On June 23, 2018 at 8:12am, I heard the starting gun that began the next 9 hours of my life devoted to swimming 1.2 miles in Wickiup Reservoir in 61 degree water, cycling 58 miles along Mt. Bachelor, and then running 13.1 miles around the perimeter of Sunriver Resort outside of Bend, Oregon. I finished my first ever half Iron distance triathlon in exactly 9 hours! What a surreal experience. A few moments of me questioning my life choices, but overall I was focused on completing this challenge all in the name of raising Cancer fighting dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and in honor of my Father who is battling Leukemia.

Throughout the 8 month training season, I was convinced it was going to be a "one and done"...but now, I'm not so sure. I have a baseline now and now I know what to expect. I think I can certainly PR my next event - whenever and wherever it will be!
